Taxis

We don't often use taxis so if you can recommend a firm which provides a good service to older residents at a sensible price and helps with carrying shopping to and from the car please let us know.

Bayley's Taxis (based in Guarlford)  Tel 575802

Krazy Cabs Tel 577774

Smith Taxis Tel 568686 else 561015

Taxis also normally stand outside Great Malvern station to meet trains

Bus

Use this bus timetables link to explore local routes and timetables. If you have a bus pass you can travel free after 9:30 am.

Local service 44 goes to Worcester bus station. To go on to Worcester Royal Hospital change to service 38X.

Some 44 buses, which run less frequently, take you to the bus station and then on to County Hall and the Countryside Centre. From there it is a seven minute walk to the hospital. Sometimes the 44 goes on to the hospital, but this service is regularly curtailed due to cuts.

Use service  31b or 31c to return from the hospital to the bus station (avoid service 31a because it has a longer route).

Rail

Stations at Great Malvern and Malvern Link with connections to Hereford, Birmingham, Worcester and London.

Parking spaces at Great Malvern are free but the spaces are narrow and adjoining streets congested by parked cars, as you now have to pay to park at Malvern Link where on-street parking is limited.

Worcester has two stations. Get off at Worcester Foregate for the cathedral and shops.

Community Action

If you are elderly or infirm, need to get to hospital or a medical appointment, don't drive, and public transport is difficult, don't worry as you might be able to obtain help from the Malvern and District Community Action (volunteer) Car Service.

Telephone 01684 892381 to see if you qualify.

You will need to register and give at least two days advance notice of appointments.

If you would like to help others, and offer your services as a volunteer driver, they would very much like to hear from you.
